Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program

There is a new partnership between HUD and the VA that is helping homeless veterans in our community. The HUD-VA Supported Housing (VASH) program provides Section 8 vouchers for eligible homeless veterans, in conjunction with case management services provided by a licensed clinical social worker at the VA. The section 8 vouchers are administered by the Housing Authority of the County of Butte. The VA social worker supports each veteran and assists him/her to utilize the resources they may need to maintain permanent housing.

This program was designed to address the needs of the most vulnerable homeless veterans. To be eligible for the program, veterans must be eligible for VA medical services, meet the definition for chronically homeless and willing to participate in case management services.
